Adventure - camping with my Wife

It's summer time; the temps in Portland are consistently in the 90s and the kid is at a week long summer camp leaving me and my wife, Gretchen, some time to do some "grown-up" camping (nothing rated X mind you). We packed up the glamping gear and headed off to a new spot in the Cowlitz County forest - Henry Reirson Spruce Run campground.

It about an hour and a half out of Portland towards Seaside off highway 26. On the banks of the Nehalem River, known for crawdads. We left Sunday afternoon and returned Tuesday afternoon, both of us taking time off from work. It was a nice little holiday.

Baited my crawdad trap with a pepperoni stick,
first 4 hours got me 10, 2nd 4 hours got me 12 more.

Boiled up and ready to eat.
Better than TV sometimes.

Our new folding camp table, wife's Kindle, Chupacabra game, our walkies.

Old Faithful, the REI Kingdom 6 tent that has survived ice and wind storms, torrential rains, and easy sunny days. Highly recommended.

Washing area of our camp kitchen.

Spruce Run creek, feeds into the Nehalem River.

Good little break from the grind. We drank wine, got some sun on our pasty flesh, ate them crawdads, walked, took a country drive, and did some much needed sitting around.

All pics taken by Gretchen, mine sucked.
